"My dream is to start my own travel business"A Tan's Grand Prize win will be life changing
When A Tan Kam Hwa said a silent prayer for some money to come his way to help him with a family issue, he never expected it to be answered so swiftly and in such a grand manner. The 30-year-old travel agent is our newest S$200,000 Grand Prize Winner and was awarded his cheque in a recent award ceremony.
The money could not have come at a better time as Tan's 32-year-old sister has been diagnosed with kidney problems and will need expert medical treatment. At print time, Tan is undergoing tests to assess his suitability as her donor because, as he says simply, "She is my sister."
Adamant that he will spend the large cash prize in ways to make a difference, Tan is working on starting a travel business of his own. "I don't want to spend the money on unnecessary things," he says. "I want to use it wisely." But that doesn't mean he's not planning any fun; he's looking forward to a week-long trip to Shanghai this August to celebrate his win with his girlfriend.
